it smells like old damp washing that's on the edge of going mouldy -
today I had an annual leave day
I met a fellow blogger and I did her collage taster class at the Beetroot Tree Gallery, and we had lunch, and we will definately be meeting from time to time to do arty things and as soon as I get time I shall be re- arranging my top row to include her blog - what you see is the third in the series of four ATC's ( this one is fabric and includes hydrangia petals) for Nat H.
Thanks Linda for the amazing generosity in allowing 15 rabid crafters loose on your stash - and the fab tutorial - it's the first time I've transferred an image to fabric
Also I have been working on a petite mermaid doll
- this will be going onto the first wood background - which I want to be light light light, so for once I Have Done The Decent Thing and Gesso'd the basewood - this will nto become a habit and it will not continue for the whole Suzi class - by January I will be lazertraning direct to wood and oozing joy at the wood grain showing through - As My New Found Art Friend would say 'Be still my Beating 'Art'and the miner is finally named - He is 'The Philosopher' and his first layer of collage frame is on and colour washed....
and Milo slept through it all

Hi Donna....it was great to meet you today! I particularly enjoyed our lunch together and looking through your brilliant journals :-)
I loved what you created - hope Nat likes it too.
The Philosopher is intriguing me.....
And Milo is unbearably cute...I want to cuddle him.

PS I quite like the smell of gesso.
PPS Don't tell anyone I said 'Be still my beating art' over some ripped paper....they'd think I was batty ;-)
It sounds like a fabulous day. I used Gesso for the first time today and can't say I minded the smell - Craig said he could have took sandpaper to my bit of wood to give the same effect so am not sure I did it right... but how wrong can you go slapping paint on eh?
Milo is such a cutie!
This ATC is unbelievable. I have yet to transfer an image to fabric, too. Maybe one of these days. I'm so impressed with your paintings. I would say far more impressed than Milo (grin).
I tend to skip the gesso smell and go directly to the stinky washing one.......too busy being sidetracked and it gets left in the machine over night ooooops ;)
perfect way to spend a day off
Good ol' Milo :-)
Love the ATC, love The Philosopher, love the mermaid of course ;-)

BTW my Bar Steward dog did the same thing a few weeks ago £40+ bed ripped to kingdom bloody come!
Great work and cutey dog... can't believe what I read next post... he's so sweet!
Try adding a little favourite essential oil to your Gesso to make it smell nice... a tip I appreciated when I got it!

Linda mentioned you in her post. Love your collage. Gesso, add some essential oil to it like lavender, then it all smells wonderful. Just mix the oil thoroughly every time you use it and it works wonders....
